Welcome to Gilroy – the Garlic Capital of the World. The city is located in the southern portion of Santa Clara County and is an excellent place to build a home or business. Gilroy serves as a major retail destination with convenient rail and freeway access, allowing residents to easily traverse to the Bay Area and Salinas Valley. The city is located at Silicon Valley’s southern gateway and offers a diverse population, affordable housing, and land available for development. 

 

With approximately 57,000 residents, the City of Gilroy offers many amenities and services for locals. Gilroy Unified School District serves 14 schools in the community, including Gavilan Community College, and there are several private school options. Gilroy is referred to as an “urban forest” with 16 parks, and the city has been awarded Tree City USA designations annually since 1979. Gilroy has also received more park design awards than any other city in California. There are plenty of things to do in Gilroy. The world-famous Gilroy Garlic Festival is held on the last full weekend of July and features live music, arts and crafts, and of course, great garlicky food. The Historic Downtown District features a unique mix of shops, antique stores, restaurants, and specialty boutiques. The Gilroy Historic Paseo is located off of Monterey Street and features murals and informational panels to educate visitors about the city’s past. Other popular attractions include the Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park and nearly two dozen tasting rooms and wineries found along the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail. There is something for everyone in this historic city.
